About Michael Boothman | Tennis Coach, Father & Community Builder in Sarasota, FL
Michael Boothman, tennis coach and founder of SRQ Tennis in Sarasota Florida

The Short Version

I'm Michael Boothman. I'm a certified tennis coach, the founder of SRQ Tennis in Sarasota, Florida, and a dad who's trying to get it right every day.

I've spent over a decade coaching tennis. Not just teaching kids how to hit a ball, but helping them build confidence, handle pressure, and develop into people they're proud of. That's the work that gets me out of bed in the morning.

I hold certifications through the PTR and USPTA. I've coached players from age 3 to adults. I've built SRQ Tennis from the ground up into a program that serves hundreds of families across Sarasota. And I did all of it because I believe sports have the power to change lives.

When I'm not on the court, I'm with my family. That's the other job that matters most.

My Journey

01

Fell in Love with Tennis

Started playing as a kid and never looked back. Tennis taught me discipline, competition, and how to handle adversity. Those lessons shaped everything that came after.

02

Started Coaching

Began my coaching career at The Country Club of Detroit as an Assistant Tennis Professional. Spent four years learning the craft and realizing that coaching was what I was meant to do.

03

Earned My Certifications

Got certified through both the PTR and USPTA. Invested in becoming the best coach I could be so I could give my players the highest quality instruction.

04

Moved to Sarasota

Sarasota felt right from the start. The community, the weather, the families. I knew this was the place to build something meaningful.

05

Founded SRQ Tennis

Built SRQ Tennis from scratch to serve Sarasota families. Started with word of mouth and grew it into a program I'm proud of. Every day we're serving players of all ages and abilities.

06

Became a Father

Becoming a dad changed everything about how I coach. Made me more patient, more empathetic, and more intentional. Being a father and a coach are really the same job.

What I Stand For

Integrity

Do the right thing even when nobody's watching. I hold myself and my players to that standard.

Community

We're stronger together. I'm building something that's bigger than any one player or any one lesson.

Family First

Everything I do is for my family. And every kid I coach, I treat like my own.

Consistency

Show up every day. Do the work. That's how trust is built and that's how results happen.

Growth

I'm always trying to get better. As a coach, as a dad, as a person. That mindset drives everything.

Joy

Life's too short to not enjoy the work. I want my players to love being on the court. I know I do.

Family Man First

Before I'm a coach, before I'm a business owner, I'm a dad and a partner. My family is the reason I do everything I do. They keep me grounded, they keep me honest, and they remind me every day what actually matters.

We live in Sarasota. My kids play on the same courts I coach on. They go to school with the same kids in my programs. There's no separation between work and life for me. It's all connected. And I wouldn't want it any other way.

Being a father made me a better coach. It taught me patience, empathy, and what it really means when a parent trusts you with their child. I carry that with me onto the court every single day.
